Study: Xylitol can boost tooth strength in young children

The naturally occurring sweetener xylitol can prevent tooth decay in young children by inhibiting decay-causing bacteria, researchers say. Previous studies have looked at chewing gum or lozenges, but this one suggests that xylitol can be administered as a topical oral syrup to improve tooth health.
