Camp provides ocean experience for children with special needs

The volunteer staff of the nonprofit group Project Surf Camp consists of special-education teachers who help children with special needs learn to surf. Lifeguards and other staff are also part of the team. The group, which subsidizes lessons for families that cannot afford financial contributions, is competing for a $100,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project and "The Today Show."
