EIA sees drilling ban significantly cutting crude production

The federal government's ban on deepwater drilling will slash overall crude-oil production by a daily average of 82,000 barrels in 2011, according to the Energy Information Administration. "The reductions in crude-oil production increase from a monthly average of about 10,000 bpd in September 2010 to nearly 100,000 bpd by December 2011," said the EIA in its short-term energy forecast.
