Medicare data show decline in heart attack deaths

Medicare data showed heart attack death rates at U.S. hospitals fell from a national average of 16.6% in 2009 to 16.2%. The CMS measures how well hospitals follow recommended treatment protocols for heart attack patients along with 30-day readmission rates to motivate hospitals to improve quality of care and outcomes.
