Napolitano: Congress will pass safety mandates for chemical facilities

Congress will likely permanently authorize the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards, said Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security secretary. "Securing our nation's chemical sector requires extensive collaboration with our private sector partners," she added, noting that discussions will continue with industry and within Congress. "Flexible, practical and collaborative programs ... play a key role in enhancing the security and resiliency of our nation's chemical facilities and other critical infrastructure."
