Oklahoma bolsters truss bridges in wake of 2007 Minnesota collapse

Oklahoma is learning from another's mistakes: The state has made modifications to eight truss bridges that were engineered similarly to the one in Minnesota's Twin Cities that collapsed in 2007. On some, more bracing was added to the gusset plates, and on others rivet connectors on the plates were replaced with high-strength bolts. Oklahoma has 95 truss bridges, and the state began a special inspection of them after the Minnesota collapse.
