Survey: Financial firms are reducing bonuses and bolstering salaries

Financial firms across Europe and the U.S. have reined in cash bonuses and increased base salaries, according to a survey by consulting and investment firm Mercer. "For a bunch of reasons, including regulatory and political pressure, base salary has increased, which I think is by and large a good thing," said Alan Johnson, a compensation consultant.
