Illinois county officials urge funding for track relocation project

Four railroads have lines through Springfield, Ill., and some city officials want to reinvigorate a plan to study relocation feasibility -- except now the plan will also need to study double-tracking for UP as well. Official estimates of the relocation range from $500 million to $700 million, but engineers have set the cost at $318 million.
