Study: New York's South Asians have the highest diabetes risk

Foreign-born South Asians including those from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh had the highest diabetes rates among ethnic groups in New York, with those having normal body mass index at greater risk, a study found. The findings in Diabetes Care underscore the importance of careful weight monitoring and diabetes screening in this population, regardless of BMI, the study author said.
