Conn. teachers learn to use art to improve students' writing

Sixty teachers went to the Yale Center for British Art in New Haven, Conn., to learn how to use visual literacy to enrich students' writing. Through artwork, teachers can help students read and write with more enjoyment, learn how to interpret images, and put their thoughts and observations into words. Giving students "bland" prompts will produce bland writing, said Cyra Levenson, the center's associate curator for education.
