Hartford annuity move rattles advisers

Hartford Financial Services Group is telling variable-annuity holders that if they want to hang on to their annuities' lifetime-income guarantees, they must have 40% of their money invested in fixed-income vehicles. Advisers say they fear clients who miss the notices and wind up with canceled accounts may sue.
