Microsoft hopes developers will give Bing needed zing

Microsoft is transitioning Bing from being purely a search engine into a developer platform by adding the Entity application programming interface and optical character recognition, among other features. Microsoft is hoping the move will prompt developers to embrace its most recent Windows platforms. But to be taken seriously by developers, eventually "it will have to open all of these services to developers on all platforms," writes Frederic Lardinois.
