Informed consent should disclose issues with animal trials, group argues

The Center for Responsible Science has filed a citizen's petition urging the FDA to update its rules to mandate that informed consent paperwork for drug trials clearly discloses to patients when a treatment has only been tested on animals. Many treatments that seemed safe in animal trials have led to deaths or severe adverse reactions when taken by people, the group said in the petition.
