Research IDs factors that may contribute to mortality in type 2 diabetes

Elevated HbA1C and C-reactive protein levels, reduced renal function, and poor lipid profiles were associated with increased mortality risk in type 2 diabetes patients with high coronary artery calcification, a study in Diabetes Care indicated. Failure to take statins was tied to a 44% higher risk of mortality, researchers wrote.
