G-8 leaders to focus on aid to Africa

The leaders of the Group of Eight major industrialized nations this week are expected to approve a plan to assess how well countries are providing promised aid to Africa to fight HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases. The group Debt, AIDS and Trade in Africa, or DATA, says the G-8 has delivered only $3 billion of the $25 billion in additional aid pledged to Africa in 2005.
