N.J. unveils list of 53 new schools in poor communities

Under a $2.9 billion spending plan approved by the legislature last week, New Jersey will build 53 new schools in the state's poorest communities. An $8.6 billion construction fund was depleted three years ago, and the new list represents the state's first effort since that time to comply with the state Supreme Court's Abbott v. Burke school-funding orders.
