G-8 leaders to discuss whether world economy is recovering

During a gathering this week in Italy, the heads of the Group of Eight, the world's eight richest nations, are expected to take a hard look at whether the global financial system is making progress toward getting back on its feet. Climate change also is on the agenda, with a draft communique proposing that worldwide greenhouse-gas emissions peak in 2020 and then be substantially reduced in the following years. France and Britain are pushing for action to reduce volatility in oil markets.
