New concrete aggregate helps tall buildings go green

As the world becomes more aware of the effect buildings have on the climate, many builders want to move to building skyscrapers sustainably. Some have turned to a lightweight, secondary aggregate, which can make the concrete 25% lighter in weight. LWA has been used in screeds, fills, precast and structural concrete. When coarse and fine LWA are added, weight can be decreased by about 35%.
