Report: Chemical-industry products reduced greenhouse-gas emissions

Products made by the chemical industry reduced global greenhouse-gas emissions by as much as 11% in 2005, according to a report. The conclusion came from comparing carbon dioxide-equivalent emissions of a chemical-industry product in a specific application with the best nonchemical alternative. The largest savings by volume were in insulation materials for the construction industry, chemical fertilizers and crop products, and advanced lighting solutions.
