ASCE director weighs in on business benefits of high-speed rail

A recent report by the U.S. Conference of Mayors suggested that high-speed rail will serve as a business magnet in a variety of communities, from Albany, N.Y., to Los Angeles. Many transportation and engineering experts agree. But "all of those great HSR benefits hinge on increased investment in transit and freight mobility," said Patrick J. Natale, executive director of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
