Moose study highlights link between early malnutrition and arthritis

Moose suffer from the same form of arthritis as humans, and both have links to early malnutrition, according to a 50-year study published in Ecology Letters. "These findings cast new light on how early humans first developed [osteoarthritis]," said co-author and anthropologist Clark Spencer Larsen of Ohio University. "The study of human remains from archaeological contexts reveals OA increased where societies changed from foraging plants and animals to an increased dependency on farming."
