Saks, Barneys try humor to woo fall shoppers

Upscale retailers Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys New York, despite a mixed economic recovery, are planning lighthearted campaigns to spur fall shopping. Saks' promotions feature a series of bold taglines based on the phrase "I'm going to Saks Fifth Avenue." Among the motivations are "... instead of therapy (don't judge)" and "... for everything I want and nothing I need." Meanwhile, Barneys Co-op stores are readying a catalog for its denim line that will use 3-D images and include a pair of special glasses to view them.
