Trichet suggests the end is near for an ECB aid program

Jean-Claude Trichet, president of the European Central Bank, said regional financial markets appear to be improving, suggesting the central bank will soon end a program aimed at helping the most vulnerable countries. "What is needed in terms of interventions [in government-bond markets] has been progressively diminishing," Trichet said. At its meeting this week, the ECB left its benchmark interest rate on hold.
