CFPB targeted in House hearing on mortgage-servicing standards

Republican lawmakers on two House Financial Services subcommittees questioned the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's role in a pending settlement between the state attorneys general and several large mortgage servicers on Thursday. "The CFPB has been extremely involved in these mortgage negotiations," said Rep. Randy Neugebauer, R-Texas, chairman of the House Financial Services oversight subcommittee. "I think it's really troubling."
