Public is safe from small leak at N.C. State University reactor

A small leak in North Carolina State University's research reactor isn't a threat to the public, the university said. The unit is spilling approximately 10 gallons of water per hour, which is far less than the reporting requirement of more than 350 gallons an hour, said North Carolina State reactor health physicist Gerry Wicks. Officials have closed down the reactor since the leak was found on Saturday.
