Staffing issues present barrier to technology adoption

Almost two-thirds of information technology executives say their companies could deploy more cutting edge next-generation technologies if they only had the manpower to get it done, according to a poll conducted by Robert Half Technology of 1,400 chief information officers. Staffing and employee retention issues are among the leading challenges facing technology companies today, with 34% of CIOs saying they are fearful of losing top talent to other opportunities in the coming year. The CIO Insomnia Project, which asked technology chiefs what's keeping them up at night, also found that CIOs are losing sleep thinking about data security and technology upgrades.
