AT&T will block stolen phones but keep accounts open

Starting Tuesday, AT&T customers whose wireless devices are lost or stolen will be able to retain their accounts even as their phones and tablets get blocked on the carrier's network. AT&T will launch a service in which customers can report their missing devices to customer service reps, who will put the devices on a "block" list, cutting off their voice, data and SMS functions.
