Facebook taps its Connect data for mobile ad targeting

Facebook will begin tracking the mobile applications people use based on their Facebook Connect identities, using that data to serve up targeted mobile ads. Analysts say the strategy could prove lucrative, and likely heralds a new focus on making money from Facebook Connect. "Hundreds of millions of consumers are entrusting their online identity to Facebook so what are the possibilities for Facebook to monetize that? Here's one experiment," says BIA/Kelsey analyst Jed Williams.
