AAO to unveil database to boost ophthalmologists' delivery of care

The American Academy of Ophthalmology plans to launch an EHR-linked eye disease database, called the Intelligent Research in Sight Registry, that can be used by ophthalmologists across the country to examine the quality of care they offer. The tool, which is expected to offer eye specialists automatic participation in the Physician Quality Reporting System, will be capable of collecting de-identified information from EHRs and analyzing patient data to come up with benchmark reports, AAO officials said.
