Bangladesh vows to improve factory safety, workers' rights

The Bangladesh government said Monday it will move quickly to strengthen workers' rights and boost inspections of garment factories, in a move aimed at preserving preferential trade status with the European Union. Bangladesh's garment industry's exports now total about $19 billion annually, with some 60% of the apparel going to retailers in Europe.
