"Despicable" pounds "Ranger" over holiday weekend

"The Lone Ranger" couldn't hold off "Despicable Me 2" from taking the top spot at the box office over the holiday weekend. The film took in $82.5 million, while "Ranger" brought in $29.4 million. In the five days since its release, "Despicable" earned $142.1 million, the highest five-day debut for an animated film ever.
