Officials in England have released a rewritten and more rigorous national curriculum expected to be implemented in 2014. The new curriculum, which supporters say will help the country compete internationally, places a greater emphasis on "essay writing, problem-solving, mathematical modelling and computer programming". That includes teaching basic fractions to students as young as 5 and teaching students about 3D printing and robotics.
