German exports down sharply in May

German exports plunged a seasonally adjusted 2.4% in May, the sharpest drop since late 2009 in a worrying sign for the eurozone. "May's German industrial and trade data are a blow to hopes that a strong recovery in the eurozone's largest economy might soon pull the region out of recession," said Jennifer McKeown, senior European economist at Capital Economics.
