Industry strengthens case against federal biofuels mandate

The oil and natural gas industry made its case against requirements under the Renewable Fuel Standard that would authorize higher ethanol blends in gasoline as House lawmakers hold hearings on the mandate. "A growing chorus of concerned groups is urging Congress to repeal the Renewable Fuel Standard before the mandate potentially puts consumers in harm's way, hurts the economy and disrupts the nation's fuel supply," said Jack Gerard, the American Petroleum Institute's president and CEO.
