Low-dose HIV drug combo works as well as standard dose in children

A low-dose combination of lopinavir and ritonavir was as effective as the standard dose in reducing viral loads in HIV-positive children, according to a study presented at the International AIDS Society Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention. Children who received the low-dose regimen also showed significantly lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels compared with those treated with the standard dose.
