Mediation is pushed to settle N.C. HOA issues

North Carolina recently passed a law making it easier for homeowners and HOAs to settle disputes via mediation rather than heading to court. "Although nothing in this bill is mandatory, I do feel that [mediation] provides a less costly or messy option for people in disputes with their HOA," says Rep. Duane Hall. "... [But] it does not open mediation to disputes over HOA dues or assessments."
