Middle East seen as fertile ground for second-screen marketing

Rapid growth in the popularity of smartphones across the Middle East is creating new opportunities for marketers who combine TV and mobile experiences, said Ahmed Nassef, former Yahoo managing director for the Middle East and Africa. Nassef's venture, Telfez, is a social-TV startup that seeks to take advantage of the juncture between big and small screens. "Broadcasters and advertisers need a way to connect those experiences for their viewers and consumers, and that's what Telfez will be all about," Nassef said.
