Multistate health plans will not be available in some states

Multistate health plans, seen as an alternative to the so-called public option advocated by some when the Affordable Care Act was drafted, will be available next year in at least 31 states, according to the Obama administration. Critics say the program will do little to increase competition because carriers offering multistate plans already have significant market share.
