Nurses use new health care IT devices for patient monitoring

Nurses at Truman Medical Centers use hand-held "CareMobile" devices made by Cerner Corp. of Kansas City, Mo., to get electronic updates about prescription orders and vital signs and confirm patient identities. Technological advances are streamlining health care and can improve safety, and the increasing importance of health IT is creating new jobs, such as director of nursing informatics, that combine clinical and IT specialties.
