Smart controllers operate sprinklers based on weather, soil moisture

Smart controllers use weather and soil moisture to operate sprinkler systems and ensure wise use of water in the landscape, writes Becky Garber. These devices can be connected to satellites, moisture sensors or weather stations on the house to determine when to run sprinklers. They can also account for the type of sprinkler heads, plants and soil in the garden, Garber notes.
