Texas adds sales tax for single-serve snacks

Texas consumers will pay sales tax on single-serve snack items including breakfast bars, chips, yogurt, protein bars and more beginning in September. Taxes will not be charged on containers carrying multiple single-serve packages. In the past, only single-serve items served in a convenience store with an eating section were taxed.
