Data: STEM graduates earned higher salaries during recession

College graduates in the class of 2008 who majored in science, technology, engineering and math, earned higher salaries than graduates in other fields, according to a report from the U.S. Department of Education. STEM graduates earned an average of $65,000 a year as of 2012, compared with $49,500 for other degree-holders.
