Dwindling demand drove cupcake chain Crumbs to close

Cupcake seller Crumbs Bake Shop closed all 50 of its stores Monday, a victim of growing competition and declining demand for the once-trendy treat. As of April, overall cupcake sales were down 8%, and the company had been delisted from the stock market on July 1, both harbingers of the impending closings.
