Elle editor: Women don't want to buy "real" images

During a Hearst Empowering Women panel of fashion magazine editors in London, Elle UK editor Lorraine Candy said the reason her publication continues to airbrush cover images is because women "don't always want to see something real." The comment followed heckling and demands from audience members who told the editors that the publications promote self-esteem in their pages but present unrealistic images on their covers.
