Firms seek to set standards for Internet of Things

Intel, Samsung and Dell have joined the race for an open-source standard governing emerging connected devices with the establishment of the Open Interconnect Consortium. The group, which has pledged to develop and distribute specifications for the emerging Internet of Things, is going up against the AllSeen Alliance, founded by Qualcomm, Quentin Hardy writes. Intel's Gary Martz said the OIC will also highlight authentication and security in its work.
