Science, math degrees earn grads top salaries, survey finds

College students who graduated in 2008 with science and math degrees reported in 2012 earning, on average, $65,000 a year compared with $49,500 for their peers in other majors, according a survey by the National Center for Education Statistics. Overall, the 2008 college graduates had a lower unemployment rate compared to the national average, and earnings were about the same whether they attended a private or public four-year college.
