California education secretary's gaffe triggers firestorm

Last week, during a Santa Barbara, Calif., library event, California Education Secretary Richard Riordan answered Isis D'Luciano's request that he guess the meaning of her first name by telling the 6-year-old girl that it stood for "stupid, dirty girl." Although Riordan immediately apologized to the girl and later explained he had been teasing, critics have called for Riordan's resignation.
