WTO to investigate Mexican tax on corn sweeteners

The World Trade Organization has formed a panel to look into U.S. claims that a Mexican "discretionary tax" on sweeteners other than cane sugar violates international trade rules. The Mexican tax was imposed in 1998 to protect that country's sugar industry. A decision may be issued by the end of the year.
