Department store's closure means open-air element for Columbus mall

Rather than trying to find a new anchor to fill a 200,000-square-foot space occupied by a Kaufmann's department store at Polaris Fashion Place in Columbus, Ohio, the mall's landlord, Glimcher Realty Trust, has decided to redevelop the site into an open-air retail center. The landlord will target bookstores, fashion retailers and other specialty retailers for the $45 million redevelopment.
