SIFMA, other groups fight private-equity tax hikes

The private-equity industry and its supporters -- including SIFMA -- are fighting proposals to more than double the industry's tax rate to 35%, saying such tax hikes would hurt average Americans. The groups argue that pending bills in Congress would hurt workers whose pension and retirement funds are invested with private-equity firms.
